Forbes: Deer Valley Resort Will Double In Size

Deer Valley Resort, Utah’s glamorous luxury ski resort high in the Wasatch Mountains and one of America’s top resorts, has announced that it will double in size. Deer Valley will add an astonishing 3,700 acres of terrain and remain a ski-only destination. The expansion will include a new village, new resort access, and more lodging, dining, and retail. Deer Valley Resort is making it happen by taking over the fledgling Mayflower ski area near Jordanelle Reservoir.

Instructors in signature green ski jackets and pants, expertly groomed terrain, and not a snowboarder in sight: That’s how you know you’ve made it to Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah. One of the two ski resorts in the mountain town — Park City Mountain Resort is the other — it’s perhaps most widely recognized for its ski-only policy, which it’s held since opening in 1981.

There are ski trips, and there are ski vacations. Deer Valley is the latter. Two seasons into new Alterra ownership, Deer Valley’s focus on customer service, established by Edgar Stern and Stein Eriksen 40 years ago, still shines brightly. From On-Mountain Dining and Lodging to Service and Family Friendly, Deer Valley swept nearly all of the key customer-service categories. “Deer Valley employees still treat you like royalty and the on-mountain dining continues to impress,” writes one skier.
